PercoLatt

Game Goal

Players are divided into 3 teams: blue, red, and green. Each round, all players vote to eliminate one player. The game ends when one of the team is completely eliminated. At the time, between the two remaining teams, the one having more survivors win the game.

The game ends as draw in following cases

  • The two remaining teams have the same number of survivors
  • Each team has only 1 player left.
  • 3 consecutive ties in a voting round.

Concepts

Player

Since this game currently has no user registration, each connection session is identified as an unique player.

For simplicity of communication, players are referenced by number -- e.g. Player 3 -- most of the time during a game.

If you lost the connection, such as you close the browser or change to another tab, your player identity is lost. You can try to reconnect by sending a private message to the room master, who can let you in if she/he can verify that you were the disconnected player.

Team

There are 3 teams: blue, red, green. Players are randomly distributed into teams as evenly as possible.

Room

To play PercoLatt, some one first need to create a Room for other players to join. The player who created the room will be Player 1 and also the room master.

Game

Once all players have joined the room, the room master can decide to start the first Game.

Players joined after a game started, will be watchers during the on-going game. They become normal players when the room starts the next game.

Round

The game progresses by Rounds. Each round goes through several Stages, results in eliminating one player in the Voting stage, or ending the game when one of the termination criteria is met.

Stage

Important stages in a round are: Wetting, Declaring, and Voting

Wetting

In wetting stage, you have a chance to reveal another player's identity (which team she/he belongs to). The success rate drops as the game progresses.

Declaring

In the declaring stage, each player, one by one, has to "declare" two players' identities. Between them, one must be true, while the other can be either true or false declaration.

The first declarer is picked randomly in each round. Then it goes clockwise: e.g. 2 -> 3 ... -> 1.

The system skips the declaring stage in later rounds, as there are not much room for fake declaration in late game.

Voting

All players submit their single votes together. The candidate receiving the most votes is eliminated. If more than one player receive the same maximum vote, all players will vote again among tied candidates. If the voting ties 3 times in a round, the game ends as draw.

The player voted to be elminated can leave last words before the round ends. In her/his last word, she/he can let any player know any player's identity, with 100% success rate. After the next round starts, the eliminated player cannot participate in any game acitivities except chatting in the chat room(s).

There are bonus voting powers described below

Mechanics

Knowlege

To help you and your teammates making bigger voting impact and thererfore moving the game balance towards your team's favor, there are two import means: Knowledge and Percolation (recall the game name).

The definite answer to a player's team acquired from system is called Knowledge. There are three ways to acquire knowledge:

  • In the Wetting stage.
  • A to-be-elminated player leaves Last Word.
  • Sharing knowledage among percolated teammates.

Percolation

Considering a piece of knowledge as a directional edge from one player to another. Two team mates are percolated when there are paths in both directions between them.

For example, in the situation above, Player 1 and 2 are percolated, but not with Player 3. Although both Player 1 and 2 know that 3 is their teammate.

Percolated teammates automatically join a private chat room that is only visible to the percolated group. They can use this chat room to discss secrete tactics, such as focusing the voting power.

When percolated teammates vote together to the same candidate, a bonus voting power will be added. A percolated group with n teammates has (n-1)/2 bonus voting power. (A normal vote has the voting power of 1.)

PS: if you have robot players on your team and percolated, you can send "vote x" to the team's chat room to let them vote "x".

Enjoy!
